4th Wall provides Big-Business IT best-practice for the little guy – true multi-destination, multi-schedule backup that can be adapted to meet your needs, but at consumer prices. 4th Wall Data Security is software as a service - billed with a low monthly subscription, or annually at your choice. A basic annual subscription costs less than most stand-alone backup software packages -
let alone a tape-drive or external hard-drive.

Local Backup – online backup is invaluable, but simply cannot protect your entire computer. Using our built-in unmetered local backup system, you can backup your entire computer, open/locked and operating system files included to any local medium, whether it be external USB drive, a local network location, a SAN, a stick, or an IPod;

Physical Media Upload – chances are you have at least 20 to 30 GB of data to backup. Over the wire,
that initial upload can literally take weeks. Our PMU (Physical Media Upload) technology lets you “seed” your backup by sending your encrypted data in on a DVD or USB Hard Drive.

Archiving – Unlike other online backup systems, we don’t delete a file from your backup just because you delete the file from your computer. Intelligent file filters – tell SOS Online Backup to watch your My Documents folder - but to ignore all *.mp3’s and *.avi’s. Alternatively – tell SOS to only protect *.doc, and *.xls. Either use our pre-sets or set your own inclusion/exclusion mask;

Enterprise compression & transfer systems
– The shrinkRap compression system vastly reduces the processed size of your changed files, and then only the changed 1’s and 0’s are transferred. On a 500 MB database (MYOB/ Intuit/Turbo Tax) the daily transfer can be as small as 5 KB. Our transfer system is enterprise grade, meaning that large file transfers are resumed at the point of interruption, and do not re-start from the beginning of the whole session like most online backup systems.

The user then tells the program what files to protect, and each session, at a configured time, (or instantaneously at the option of the user) it backs up any files that have changed or been added since the previous backup. Files are backed up to a global network of datacenters powered by proprietary Server and InfiniScale technologies. Data is compressed using trademarked ShrinkRAP delta compression that ensures that only the changes made to files are sent over the network – dramatically reducing bandwidth consumption. It is this performance enhancement that forms the core of this Designed-For-Dial-Up strategy and gives our platform mass market appeal. 4th Wall stands in contrast to most online backup systems, which re-transfer the entire file that has changed, rather than just the modified binary subset of that file. 4th Wall can also be set up to intelligently watch particular folders – and to either backup all the files in that folder – or just a subset of them. For example – you can easily define a filter that says – “ backup the word documents ONLY in the My Documents folder”. Simple – but powerful.

4th Wall backup accounts, using the UltraSafe option comply with the record backup requirement and privacy requirements of HIPAA. No additional contract is required. A longer certification is available on request.
